E-Mail at Dickinson State University: DSU provides E-Mail service on the HECN server MAIL.DSU.NODAK.EDU. The address for all DSU users will usually be in the format of firstname.lastname@DSU.NODAK.EDU. All users will be assigned a username (also called as Electronic ID) when they register. Before using the email system, all users must activate their username by going to http://enroll.nodak.edu. Users will need a password to enter the site, the default password is listed below. To activate your e-mail account: • Point an internet browser to: http://enroll.nodak.edu • Read and understand the SBHE Computing Facilities policies and procedures then select Continue. • If you are setting up your account for the first time o Select the checkbox: I don't know my Electronic ID and/or password. o Click Continue to proceed o NOTE: If you are returning to check the status of an account enter your Electronic ID and password. Your Electronic ID is the text to the left of the @ in the University email address. Your Electronic ID usually has a firstname.lastname format. • Last Name: Enter your last name • Enter your Emplid • Enter your password as described below & click Continue The default password created for everyone after August 2001 is comprised of seven characters in the format Xxxssyyyy: Position Xxx = first three letters of your birth month (FIRST LETTER IS CAPITALIZED) Position ss = middle two digits of your Social Security number Position yyyy = last two digits of your birth year The default password created for everyone before August 2001 is comprised of eight characters in the format DSmmssyy: Position DS = the uppercase letters DS Position mm = two digits of the month of your birth, i.e. May = 05 Position ss = the middle two digits of your social security number Position yy yy = Four digits of the year of your birth • You will be asked to change your password after the policy review quiz The password can be changed by selecting "Change Password" on the "Enroll" screen. If you do not have "Email" under "Your Services", click "Email" under "Available Services" to add that service to your configuration. Other Options to Choose From at http://enroll.nodak.edu *Once you are in the enroll.nodak.edu website, off to the right hand side there are some user options that you can choose from. To change your information I.D., Select: Change IID --the HECN standard is to use "firstname.lastname". If you have a strong preference, you can change it here. To change your password, Select: Change Password. To change your mail drop, Select: E-mail Delivery *Students not returning for a subsequent term will be automatically dropped from the mail server. To Check your email The lab computers in May Hall will have icons named "HECN Mail System" within the "E-Mail and Internet Applications" folder on the system desktop to access their email. Web mail 1. This can be done on any computer that has access to the internet 2. Launch an internet browser (Netscape or Internet Explorer) 3. Point your brower to: https://webmail.dsu.nodak.edu 4. Enter your username (without the @dsu.nodak.edu) and password |
