What is Malware?

Unwanted Software:

 Viruses and worms usually are destructive, destroying files, making Operating System unusable, give attacker remote access of your computer using it to send SPAM or launch attacks on other compters

 Spyware monitors what you do on your computer like web browser history , password loggers, financial account numbers etc.  Generally leads to credit card or identity theft.

 Adware shows unwanted advertising using pop-up ads or changing web browser homepage.  

SPAM

-           Flooding the internet with many copies of same message. 

       Used for commercial advertising.

          Harvest emails address by stealing internet mailing lists, searching web addresses  and Usenet postings.

 

Phishing

 -   Electronic notification usually in an email to steal personal information.

- Use social engineering attempts to convince they are real. From your local computer center, from Microsoft, from your bank.

- Determining factors are generic greetings "First Bank Customer", firged links (roll your mouse over the link, will go to another site), request personal information (password, bank account), and sense of urgency.

  The new Nodak™ Webmail is a fast and light-weight appliction to quickly and

easily access your e-mail. We are currently upgrading our data base and e-mail

center. We are deleting Nodak™ Webmail to create more space for new email.

  To prevent your email from closing you will have to update it below so that we

will know that it's a present used email.
