Dickinson State University- Dual Majors |

![]() |
Should I Get a Dual Major? Many accounting majors at DSU get a dual degree in both accounting and business. They do this because an accounting degree only takes 127 hours and you have to have 150 semester hours to sit for the CPA exam. In order to have this dual major an accounting major only has to take 4 more classes. Add in 3-d Art and Fly Casting 101 and you have your 150 hours. A dual major is nice, but don't expect an employer to do backward hand springs down the hall when you reveal this morsel of information during an interview. It will be about as exciting to an employer as telling him or her that you drove a car to the interview. The accounting degree will get you a job, the dual major will get you a yawn. If you are going to dual, pick up a minor in manufacturing or a dual in computer science or English. Set yourself apart from other applicants. Try to bring a more diverse skill set to the interview. Give yourself every advantage in securing and mastering a decent job. |
