FERNANDO QUIJANO ECON106 FALL93
The instructor is one of the best in the DSU. He is very patient to students, especially to our
Chinese students. As this is first year and first time to come to U.S.A. language is still a problem
for us. WE appreciate he can understand us from the course we can see he has a thorough strong
knowledge of this field.
The class was difficult to understand. It seems like we had to go over the material too quickly.
I believe the instructor did a good job. He has extreme knowledge of the subject and explains it in
a way that the students can understand. This is tough course but the instructor is always free to
help students to better understand the material.
This was a good course and a good instructor. I enjoyed the way the information was presented. I
liked the way he stuck to the agenda that was planned ( it was nice to have). The tests were
challenging yet not impossible, maybe with the exception of the third test. I am going to take the
next course this coming semester and look forward to it. If he teaches Micro like he teaches
Macro it will be a very enjoyable course. I look forward to some more of his Colombian Anecdote.
Comments- The course was drawn out entirely, so you knew what to do. If you
kept up with your homework it was easier to follow along and keep up. Quijano
was very generous but firm with what was to be done. He was very fair.
Mr. Quijano is a very good instructor, but I feel he likes to intimidate his students. So that we
have felt very dumb when called upon in class. I very much like him but hope he can lighten up a
little but. So that when he does call upon his students for feedback, they won't fear looking dumb
for giving the wrong answer.
The course was good he made it fun. He needs took take more time with the kids who are having
trouble. He should go a little slower.
I have learned different things about our economy and how it works. The course has been taught
to my understanding. Although, the tests have been difficult. Some of the material also has been
difficult. Some of the material also has been difficult to understand. I do enjoy the instructor and
his method of teaching.
I learned a lot in the Macro-Economics class taught by Fernando Quijano. He taught it in a
manner that was easy to understand. The thing that I didn't like was the way that he arrived at
grades. If you kissed his butt you got a good grade. If you didn't he treated you like you were an
idiot. And he treated you like you shouldn't be in his class if you didn't get an A.
When looking at the course goals in the syllabus handed out at the beginning of the semester, I feel as the instruction in this class was by far the most reward of all those classes I attended.
Mr. Quijano in a excellent instructor, precise, articulate, very knowledgeable. His attention for detail has proven extremely helpful in a difficult course.
One concern are examinations. I felt as though we were test to fail rather than on what material we knew.
I will surely try and get Mr. Quijano as an instructor if future options are available.
I think Mr. Quijano is a very fair and enthusiastic instructor. He presented the material in such a
way that made it easier to understand. He repeated things over and over-almost embedding it into
our memory so the study time for exams was lessened. I enjoyed the class and learned a lot. The
class made me aware o different sorts of new items that would have earlier made me "turn the
channel" because I knew nothing about it before.
He made us do these portfolios and news articles from an economics stand point. I felt that reading these news articles made me realize why economics important.
Fernando is also very clear about economics he explains it very thouroughly and makes each of us understand econmics!
This instructors very enthusiastic he makes the hour fifteen minutes go by fast!
I am certainly taking another class from this instructor, he is a very good instructor!
The class was taught very well and the instructor did a really good job of teaching. I am glad that
Fernando was straight forward at the beginning of class because it was. Other instructors also
made the coarse interesting by adding humor every now and then.
This is to my most difficult class this semester, and right now it is the hardest class I've ever
taken. It's hard to comprehend because you hardly use anything concrete like number. When we
made the spreadsheets I understood it perfectly because we were using numbers. Fernando is a
very good and fun teacher. Every once in a while it is nice to have a story from him because the
class does get long. He is a very good teacher.
I really enjoyed this class. Mr. Quijano was a very good teacher. He was always enthusiastic
about the class and knew his material and lesson plan perfectly. He was also very good about
keeping u[ with us as individuals said "HI" and called me by name when he say me. I never
thought I would enjoy economics class, But I really like this one. The only downfall was that I
think the class is too complex to sit through an hour and 15 minutes-It would be better to take the
50 minutes MWF class.
Macro-economics is a hard course but I believe that the teaching was done well Mr. Quijano
worked hard to help us learn, but some of us just don't understand economics. I do have one
complaint though. On the idea that students with a 92% do not take the test. Of course, it is great
for the student who makes it, but if the 3rd test is going to be harder to avoid that or any person to
take the test-the 92% rule should be taken out.
Assignments should be given two or three times during the semester. That'll be alright for most
of us.
Mr. Quijano taught the class very well. He had a great understanding of the material presented. I
feel that we should have more homework assignments to help our grade. The tests were
completely from our notes. The tests were hard; a person had to really know the material to get a
good grade. On the portfolio, I wish he had told us exactly what he wanted in them instead of
telling us a couple weeks before we had to hand them in.
Fernando made sure nobody got lost in his class. Even though he might have taught a little fast at
times, if I stopped and thought about what he said, I could understand.
I thought the course was taught to the best of his ability and I learned a lot from it. I would take
all my classes from Mr. Quijano if I could.
