FERNANDO QUIJANO ECON106 FALL92
I feel that Fernando Quijano has been an exceptional instructor and has offered a challenging economic course. Fernando
also seems to know his students well and therefore knows which parts of the material need extra emphasis. He has taught
with enthusiasm, and his broad knowledge of the subject matter and it's applications to everyday life has made every class
hour exciting. Aside from the class requirements Fernando has set goals for himself; Fernando cares and wants his class to
understand economics. Fernando is different than other teacher and the college, most important he treats his students like
peers and is available for help with the material, future careers and education.
This course was a very good course. You are an excellent teacher for you thouroughly explain everything and are always
willing to help. You are one of the few instructors who are in their offices regularly so a person knows they can find you
their and if you're not there you leave a message in the business office. It is nice that you write the notes on the board it
helps get the message across. Also I like that you tell us what is going to be on the test, but the tests always seem to be so
much harder. Some people are surprised that you don't give homework, but I believe that our portfolio is homework, you
need to work on it daily and I thinks it is an excellent way to learn what is going on in the U.S. and around the world it
makes me actually read the newspaper, in which I learn many interesting thinks. I enjoyed the class, I just wish I'd get a
better grade for myself. Also your grading curve is very beneficial you are a little more leanient but I need it.
I really enjoyed being in this Economics class. Fernando Quijano explained new material thouroughly and always answered
any questions that came up. He was always prepared for class and I believe his grading system is fair to everyone. He is an
excellent instructor and being in his class was an interesting experience.
I believe the instructor, Mr. Quijano, taught the course very well. I have now a background to look upon when hearing on
TV or reading in the newspaper economic events that are occuring. I think this was a very good course. Mr. Quijano always
took enough time to explain things and was available for questions outside of class. I enjoyed this course and Mr. Quijano
as the instructor.
Fernando is a good teacher, but he knows his stuff too good. Goes through some things to fast for us to be able to
comprehend what he's talking about. The class is okay except when we got into all the equations, these screw me up on the
test all the equations, these screwed me up on the test because I didn't understand them, otherwise Fernando is a good
teacher and it seems like he likes to teach this class. His tests could be a lot easier though, may be more tests on fewer
chapters, and it would help out understanding the information a lot better. I really enjoyed your class.
Fernando knows his material extremely well. He sometimes forgets that somethings aren't as easy to understand and
comprehend as others. He rusted through a few areas, otherwise he is a great teacher. He gets into his teaching and he likes
what he is doing because he shows it. His tests are hard, very hard that is, but he is fair in his grading. He could use a little
bigger curve but I think he is fair. Throughout this semester, I have learned how to actually understand politicians and
figure out what they are saying. I thank Fernando for the opportunity to broaden my knowledge on the economy and "real
world." I would advise all students to take this course from Fernando. I enjoyed his class.
Mr. Quijano,
I feel that the course was well taught and many ideas and theories were easy to apply to the economy especially during the election. It was easy for me to understand your points.
I feel you are a great teacher. I appreciate your excitement and knowledge of the course. I have to say you did a swell job
and I congratulate you on your first semester performance.
Fernando Quijano,
I enjoyed your class this semester. I learned a great deal on how the economy works, and in some ways that it isn't working efficiently.
You were an excellent teacher. Bringing out specific points with humor made myself, as a student, more willing to listen
and to learn. Sometimes I had a hard time understanding you, but not very often. If I was going to go into business; I know
for sure that I would take more classes from you. I really enjoyed your class.
This class was very interesting. I learned some good things. There was also some things that were hard to understand. The instructor was very informative and 99% of the test questions were fair. I think Fernando's enthusiasm was encouraging. The only dissagreement I have with his methods was the way he told people to drop the class. He said if you get and F on the first test you should drop. This can discourage students from working harder to pass the course.
Fernando knows his material well. He drills you on it well. You must know the material front and back to pass the test.
Overall the course was fun and informative and I would take a class from him again.
I thought the class was hard, speaking for myself. I know nothing about Economics so it really caught me off guard. The
instructor is very well informed about Macro, but some of the students are scared to ask him questions because he sort of
put down quick, so no one in the class really tries to answer questions that he gives, besides that he is a great teacher.
Fernando Quijano:
Is a fair teacher. But he is very tough with his tests. He doesn't use the text book I purchased for this class much at all. I
have learned a lot in this class even if my grade might not show it. Fernando is always willing to help when I needed help.
He is available in his office when the schedule says he is in, he's in. I probably would catch on faster if I'd think like an
economist, but my mind dosen't work that way. Overall he's a pretty good instructor.
I would have liked more assignments to take home and a workbook. Workbooks review what you've learned so far and you
can retain more information. I personally feel that I've learned something by taking this course. You are at times difficult to
understand because you use words I am unfamiliar with. The test questions are also a bit confusing. You're questions
should be stated the way you told us in the notes we were given. I enjoy your class and I plan on taking more from you. On
the average you a good instructor and it is great that you can spend time with the student who need your help you most.
I felt that you were a very good teacher and you knew your material well. I enjoyed being in your class. I really don't feel
we needed to But the book for your class. Because a lot of information came out of our notes. I know it's your 1st time
teaching here at DSU, But you are doing a good job.
Fernando Quijano is a very good instructor. He taught us the information in a very appropriate way. His methods of
teaching were very good. He was always well prepared before class which made the material easier to learn because it was
very well organized and put together. He respected all the students and was always available to give help and assistance. I
believe the reason why he had all the student's respect was because he came down to our level. He didn't seem so dominant
over us. Overall, he was a very good instructor and I would recommend him to anyone.
Fernando Quijano has been a very good instructor. He has a lot of enthusiasm and makes the class more interesting. He has
a very fair grading system and cares a lot about each of his students. The economics class itself. I think, is very challenging.
I have problems understanding a lot of it, but it's been getting better as the class is ending.
I feel that the material in this class was covered very well by Mr. Quijano. Mr. Quijano did an exceptional job in teaching
this class. He made it very educational and also exciting. He made us keep a journal which helped us relate what we learned
in class to the outside world. The tests were based on the notes that Mr. Quijano had written on the board. I learned a great
deal in this class, and plan to take Micro-Economics from Mr. Quijano because of his exceptional teaching skills.
The instructor was well informed and extremely enthusiastic about the class. His enthusiasm was caught by many students, and I, myself, enjoyed the course more than I anticipated.
My only negative input would be the lack of homework (worksheets, quizzes, etc.) That would help to further explain basic economic functions.
I would take another class from this instructor.
My "0" on number on the front is because I feel the course should have more hands on homework. The subject is very complicated and more homework will only make the student more familiar with the subject.
Mr. Quijano is a very good teacher who teaches in a manner the conveys the attitude that he wants all his students to do well. He is always available to provide added help. I think his help in preparing the students for the exams is excellent.
His enjoyment of economics is very evident in his lectures.
The material in this class is presented very well. All of the notes are written on the board which make the class much easier to understand. Mr. Quijano knows his material extremely well, and presents it well also. He gives us students as many breaks as possible for us to do well. Everything that is on the tests is in our notes which makes the class easier to study for. Mr. Quijano took a somewhat boring class and made it very interesting.
