FERNANDO QUIJANO ECON106 SPRING94
I enjoyed this class very much. Fernando talked to us on level that I can understand. He was very prepared for his classes
and did not just read out of the book. He was available if I needed help. The class is hard, but it is very challenging. My
grade is something else to be desired, but that is not at the fault of Fernando, because the course itself is difficult.
Mr. Quijano was easy to understand when he taught but the multiple choice tests were hard for me when none of the above
or all of the above were choices. He was available whenever help was needed and he was enthusiastic when he taught.
The instructor was very knowledgeable. He is also very prepared and presents his material very well. Class was fun and I
enjoyed it. I did however feel that to much was expected for it only being a 100 level class. Also the homework
assignments was very rushed and a comment was made that thats what happens in this semester due to holidays. If this is a
constant problem a solutions should be thought of. Overall it is an enjoyable class and Fernando is fun and energetic to
listen to.
The main problem that Mr. Quijano had was frequently late dismissal from class. Mr. Quijano could have presented the
information in the next class hour instead of holding us over.
Fernando is an extremely intelligent teacher and also enjoys sharing his knowledge with us. He is very good at challenging
us on exams but that helps to have a better understanding of the material. Sometimes I know the problem but I also have to
know how to interpret that on paper.
With all the graphs and terms, the instructor always keeps class interesting, which makes it easier to learn. I've found this to
be one of my best classes.
I felt that at times, material was to far over the heads of students. Perhaps more time should be given to certain areas.
This is a very hard course and I believe he tried to teach it to us effectively but some of it was just not coming across as he
was trying to make it than half way through the next part it would all start coming together. The tests were very hard to
understand. The stuff in them didn't seem to be things we had discussed in class.
I believe this course was not taught appropriately for the course level number it was given. The instructor expected too much from first year students. I believe Mr. Quijano is an excellent teacher, with a brilliant mind, but needs to understand the reality of our minds and what we can conceive in such a brief amount of time.
I would like to say, that I believe the course level number should perhaps be 306 instead of 106.
Fernando has a thorough knowledge of economics and is a very enthusiastic teacher. He is able to get the material across to
us so that we can understand it. The only problem is that he seems to expect a bit too much from his students for just a 100
level course. It should be an introductory level class and he seems to be teaching it at an advanced level. Overall-Good
Instructor and Interesting class!
This is a tough course, but Mr. Quijano does provide extra help if students seek it. I have been to his office a few times and
he is very willing to help. Some of the assignments and quizzes were to difficult for a 100 level course. The material
presented seems well above other courses designated as 100's. Students who come to class everyday still have a hard time
passing the course.
Mr. Quijano taught the course rather well; however he made the remark to me, and other students as well, that if least a "C"
just for coming to class everyday and going to ask him for help. However, I was down to an "F", and it was past the drop
day, and he told me that I should've dropped the course! Yes, He's said the opposite just a few weeks before that! That
made me really mad. Otherwise the course was interesting.
Highly competent teacher with high requirements in terms of students preparation for classes.
I felt the class was very challenging to my ability. I also felt that it went over our heads sometimes. Overall, the class was
beneficial to me.
Mr. Quijano is an excellent instructor. Although, the material is difficult, he dose an excellent job explaining it. He is
always available and goes out of his way to help his students. The material is challenging but I have really learned a lot. I
would gladly take him for another course.
I thought Mr. Quijano an excellent instructor and if I have a chance to take another course from him I will.
I feel that Fernando Quijano is an excellent instructor, he seems to know his subjects very well and treats his pupils with
utmost respect. He is willing to speak with us after class, and lets us know what parts are important throughout the course.
He is friendly yet very strict and narrow. He has standards that he inflicts on us within reason.
Mr. Quijano makes Economics an interesting class. He knows how to portray the subject to the students as it applies to daily living. I was surprised how the material applied to many topics I have heard recently.
Mr. Quijano comes off as a very demanding teacher at the beginning of the semester and it tends to intimidate the
freshman, raising the drop out rate in this class. I believe Mr. Quijano is just encouraging us to be responsible college
students. For a 100 level class, it was very time consuming and I feel it needs to be raised or made a more general class. I
put many hours into this class!
Fernando has an excellent understanding of Economics. He is always well prepared. Thus material is extremely difficult
and hard to comprehend. The tests seem to be to difficult for a 100 level course. The grading system is wonderful, but there
is just to much material for only 1 semester.
Mr. Quijano taught the course well. His method of note taking helped me out a lot. I don't agree with the amount of work
required for this course. It's too much. It wouldn't be bad is you didn't have other classes, but it took time away from some
of my other studies.
This class of Macro-Economics was very informational and interesting. The instructor required 150% from the students at
all times. I felt I have learned a lot from the instructor and he knows and enjoys the information. It became discouraging at
points when after trying and studying so hard you still fail an exam or quiz. On the whole I think he has a very good
method of teaching .The testing was quite difficult, however I have learned more in this class than any other I am enrolled
in this semester. Fernando Quijano is an asset to DSU.
I very much appreciate him! Fernando opened the business world for me. I really like him.
This class can be compared to having a child. The good news is that it only lasts 4 months. The bad news is there are no drugs or a quick fix to get you through this you will just have to suffer you may die along the way, but if you hang in there the end result is a positive one.
Fernando is a man of value and principles. In a would that is sometimes wordy he is definitely a man of moral convictions.
He is not out to bag the cute chick. He is a man of personal conviction He is available for help all you need to do is ask. He
recommends and provides names of competent tutors to help you. I have not learned economics but discipline and that hard
work will be rewarded. He is a positive asset to the University.
The course is very intense and requires a lab of excess time I do believe that it could be made into a 4 credit class due to the
large amount of hours spent on the material of class. I also feel at times it is difficult for Fernando to bring things down to
the low level to enhance understanding. The other concern that I have is the wording on his tests do seem to be hard to
comprehend and relate to. On the other side of the coin I feel his grading is effective and equal as well as his willingness to
help with out of class questions when you go to his office. I also believe he has a genuine desire each student to achieve excellence.
I feel that Mr. Quijano is a well educated person. I wish that he could come down more to a college level. I felt as though he should be teaching graduate school.
I wish that there would be two different level of economics. Sometimes I felt as if he would go to fast. Some people do not
learn well with graphs and numbers. I for one am that type of person. I often felt very stupid because I could not grasp
some of his ideas.
1.) Very clear and well organized lecture.
2.) Plenty of knowledge both in and out the book.
3.) Excellent teaching method.
Very logical in analyzing basic concepts of Macroeconomics.
Very clear in Macroeconomic thinking.
Very outstanding methods in introducing Microeconomics.
Very patient and enthusiasm in class.
You are one of the best teachers I've ever had. You didn't ho to slow or too fast. I'm very happy that I took this course from you. It is good that you make the course challenging because that makes people work. The only reason people drop out of a class is because they don't make an effort to study for your tests.
I do think we should be allowed to ask questions the day before the test. Sometimes logic questions will come up the day
before. Very Good!
The course taught me a lot and it gave me a different outlook on our economy. I have no major complaints about the course
except the tests can be or are a lot tougher than what you teach in the classroom. You let us know what will be on the test
but it is a little thicker to understand your questions then to understand what you tell us to know.
The course was really a challenge for me. But Quijano was always willing to help his students, he would even ask you be for you had too. He teaches the class very well, explains very good compared to a lot of other teachers. I would never mind having him as one of my teachers. He communicates well with students.
