Econ 201 11:00 12-01-99 Fernando Quijano
The instructor did not teach the material that was on the test. You could figure that out by the high percentage of the class dropping or flunking. He is too far above the class and needs to come down to our level...Econ 201
The class is hard but the instructor makes it more than possible for the students to get a good grade.
Booklet helps greatly understanding concepts of course. Instructor willing to go great lengths to help students succeed.
I think that the guide was a great learning tool. It was very helpful in studying all of the graphs instead of having to try to draw them on your own.
He has a very good knowledge of the subject but doesn't know how to teach or explain it well.
I really feel that we should have had more chances to earn points aside from tests. The assignments from guide would work great to give students a chance to earn more points. This goes along with methods for determining grades! I felt that the guide was a great idea, but because this class is boring- giving the students the guide to fill out just made us lazy. This could be why the grades on tests were so poor despite all Fernando's efforts to bring them up. Once the average student becomes bored and lazy in a class they make little effort to study even when all the answers are given. But personality wise, Mr. Q is a great guy.
The course is a little hard and his reviews before the test are really effective.
I thought the study guide was very helpful. He was very helpful on all of the homework assigned.
I thought that he was very knowledgeable. The guide is awesome. Keep doing a good job. Reviews are excellent.
Fernando kicks ass. He's a great instructor and knows a lot about the subject. I would recommend this course to everyone.
Reviewing for each test helps so much. I especially liked taking the quiz on
the internet. Maybe have one of those for each test.
The guide was helpful in learning the material. The instructor was very knowledgeable
in economics and presented the material in a way which I could understand. The
tests covered too much information. Test #2 was hard as hell.
I believe the new guide was a big help and reflected the grades. Fernando was very enthusiastic about his teachings and I think that enthused the students as well. I look forward in taking Econ 202 from him next semester.
Even though this class is very difficult, Fernando was very willing to help the students any way he could. He knows a lot about economics and taught this class very well! See you in Macro.
I liked how we used the electronic blackboard. Quijano knew everything about the topics that had been discusses in class. The only complaint is that it is kind of hard to take notes sitting in Beck auditorium (too stuffy).
He is getting better.
The guide was very useful. The test questions can be confusing at times. Too much material on tests for only 50 minutes.
I have enjoyed the class. The guide was very helpful and easy to follow.
I feel that Fernando did a very good job or presenting the material in this class. I also think that Fernando did his very best in helping make the tests and course as easy as possible.
This is a hard class. There should be tests more often and other grades besides the tests.
This course could use more quizzes and tests to spread out the material.
Quijano is more than likely a wonderful, energetic person, but his methods of teaching are highly uneffective. The guide that he has created is a nice tool for the course, but it is why I feel that we do not learn anything. Most students do not learn unless if they write things down. With the guide, we only have to fill in the blanks and that allows no time to register into our long term memory. I will wait until next year for macro.
I was planning on majoring in Business, but after taking this course, there is no way that would be my major any more!!!
The guide was a lifesaver. It really helped a lot. It was well worth the money. Fernando's knows what he is doing. Anyone that takes the time to learn the material should do fine. It really helped me to have had econ in high school.
Fernando is a pretty cool guy, knows his material well. Goes out of his way to help us study for tests. Class was enjoyable most of the time.
The electronic Blackbook was very effective. Although I found class to be difficult. There is so much information to know. A possibility of other points toward grades other than test would be helpful.
Fernando is very enthusiastic and wanted the class to learn the material and did everything possible to do so. Fernando is probably the best teacher I've ever had.
Fernando Quijano is a fun teacher to have because he makes a really boring subject somewhat exciting. The guide was a huge help but the tests are really hard with so much information to learn.
I felt I learned a lot in this class. I really enjoyed the class and I think Fernando is a great instructor. He may be a bit harsh once in a while, but overall, that is the way life is. Not everything is going to be handed to us on a platter!! He also went to extremes to try to get students to pass his tests, so no one has the right to say he didn't try. The guide is also a wonderful tool to this class!
The guide was very helpful. I liked using instead of trying to write out everything. Fernando is a good teacher and knows the information very well. The class is very tough, but Fernando seems to make it interesting and easier to learn.
Tests are the tough thing about the class. Some of the wording is confusing.
Fernando Quijano is an excellent teacher of Economics. Many think he is tough on students but in fact the subject of economics is hard. I heard many complaints from students in todays age want everything given to them and want everything to be easy or do not work to achieve higher grades. The lack of effort makes the subject more difficult than anything else.
