FERNANDO QUIJANO ECON202 SPRING92

This is my third economic course that I have taken. My teachers in the first class were almost no help in understanding the material. They were very confusing, and worse yet, seemed unapproachable. Professor Quijano, on the other hand, was an excellent teacher. Ahe managed to make economics interesting and understandable. The material was clearly presented, and his writing and graphs were easy to read and reproduce. In contrast to my other teachers, he was prepared before coming to class, so he didn't have to spend half his time figuring and erasing. The best thing about Professor Quijano was that he took a personal interest in his students progress. He seemed to know most everyone's name, which would be difficult, and was very friendly and at ease.

Mr. Quijano is one of the best teachers I have come across at UND so far. First, the way in which he explains macroeconomics in such a clear, understanding fashion is unbelievable. His notes were better than the textbook. Second, he is the most enthusiastic teacher I've had. I'm sure that if every teacher I had was like Mr. Quijano I'd get an A in every class. This University needs more teachers like Mr. Quijano.

Professor Quijano did a fine job of teaching the course. He added enthusiasm to a course that might be considered boring by others. He made it fun to learn macroeconomics!

I feel there should be more instructors like professor Quijano. Most instructors bore the students to sleep, but Professor Quijano used just enough humor to keep the class alive and attentive! It was an enjoyable semester of economics.

In general, I have been fascinated for this semester by your passion, sense of humor and excellent teaching. There's little things to ask you regarding your way of teaching. I love it.

One thing, however, I like you to consider is that you have tendency that relied on graphical explanations. Some good comparisons in real economics world with principles in textbook would make students more understandable and longer lasting memories about Econ.

Thank you very much

I really like your style of teaching. You seem to make everything a little easier to understand. You have a great sense of humor and made the class fun. Thank you for a great semester.

Comments:

I felt Mr. Quijano did an adequate job of teaching. He showed enthusiasm for an otherwise dull subject. I did come out of the class with a better understanding of economics as a whole. In my opinion Mr. Quijano is a valuable asset to the economics department of UND.

It has been a great honor to take another course from him. He is a very energetic and fun but still gets us to learn. He should be considered as one of the top teachers here at UND. Keep him here by all means.

Fernando Quijano had a very thorough grasp of Macroeconomics Principles. His teaching capabilities are more than adequate, in fact they are quite good. He is more willing to help students understand course work then most teachers and seems very interrupted in the general well-being of his students. Unlike many teachers that grew up foreign countries, his dialect is present, but not a hindrance to his ability to convey his thought to the student. All in all, Fernando Quijano is a very capable instructor who may be one of the better instructors I have had in my 16 years of education.

The only complaint I have about this instructor is that during tests, he sat up front and read through the exam while we were working on it (can't you do this beforehand?) Then as he'd find mistakes he's interrupt us to tell us. This is very irritating especially for a student that is not a quiz in this course and needs total concentration for the exam. Our first exam wasn't so bad but our second exam was awful for this. Everything else was fine with this course.
