Quijano BusA 355 8:30 a.m. Spring 2000
I thought at first that this course was about business styles around the world. But I still found the course interesting.
I feel that the final paper was not graded properly.
Mr. Quijano was courteous and very knowledgeable.
As always I very much enjoyed taking a class from this instructor. He always seems interested in teaching all that he knows. I have learned a lot from all his classes. I also felt the paper was a good idea. It made you think about the information. Applied learning is a good thing.
I enjoyed the class, but I did not like the way he treated the paper. We wrote it how we were taught, but he wanted it exactly how he wanted it with out telling us. So he correct to heavy on how he wanted it instead of what was in it.
I thoroughly enjoyed this class, he is a very dynamic teacher and enthusiastic about teaching. I want to compliment him on high professionalism of being well prepared for class and through discussing subject matters. I give him an A+ Rating!
Very interesting class. Taught a lot about important aspects of other cultures. Professor was always very enthusiastic, and I would definitely take more courses from him.
Be careful of your religious comments. I am an intelligent person and I do deserve to graduate from this university whether you think so or not. Use some respect when you address your students. It is a direct reflection of your own self worth.
If you want students to write a paper you should give them some sort of framework of a format to use. You never once said what type of format to use. I have never seen your type of format in any composition book. Help the students out. Saying that we don’t deserve degrees was very out of line and completely uncalled for. We would have done better on the paper if you had given us a format to use.
Mr. Quijano was a good professor. The paper was totally crap though. He couldn’t so much as give us instructions on what the form was suppose to be. And then worst of all he comes to class and insults our intelligence saying he is "embarrassed" to be our professor and that we didn’t deserve diplomas. After he said this to us it made me lose total respect for this guy. I was planning on staying in Dickinson for an extra year to add on Banking and Finance concentration on to my degree, but if Fernando is the professor, no way!
Writing a paper is a good idea, but tell the students know you want it so that the grades will be better the first time around. That way the students wont have to spend more and extra time on it.
I liked the class because I Like learning about other cultures and way of life. I wish that we could have learned more about other cultures and how business works in other countries. I liked when you talked about where you are from and your background. I wish you would have done more of that and talked less about different economies.
Giving test questions and answers helped a lot! They helped me to better understand what was being taught.
Respect was not an issue in this class. He belittled students in front of others.
The course requirements were played with throughout the semester we always knew that we would have to write a paper but there were no clear instructions given until we had already handed in one draft and after that we could only improve our grade by 15 points. I do like him as a professor and I would take another course from him but his professionalism was lacking this semester.
In relation to the capstone paper, the ideas desired were not portrayed to the students and resulted in the instructor verbally attacking the intelligence of the students.
Writing a paper is a good idea, but tell the students how you want it so that the grades will be better the first time around. That way the students won’t have to spend more and extra time on it.
We were given a paper to write, which was fine. The instructions for the paper were very unclear. I handed in a paper that any English professor would have accepted. We were all griped at by this instructor because he felt that our papers were crap and that we had never learned how to write a proper English paper.
It was very unfair to cut down the entire class because the assignment was not give correctly. It is not standard to have headings on a 3-5 paper, so if you wanted headings, you should have told us. There is a certain way that students deserve to be treated and you did not treat us with respect. I feel that I have gotten a very good education at DSU and I know I have earned the degree when I walk across the stage on May 13th. The only downfall to that moment will be the comment you made in class about it.
I enjoyed the class. Wish the details for the paper would have been more clearly defined.
I really enjoyed having Fernando as an instructor, and would definitely take another course from him.
The instructor needs to be teaching us things that are of relevance to us. We do not need to know how easy it would be to import cocaine into the US. He has made a point to tell us how we should not be graduating because we don’t know how to write papers. If he had told us how to prepare them the first time we wouldn’t have to go through the hassle of rewriting them. We are taught how to write papers and the structure he showed us was never taught! I feel that I have learned NOTHING in any of his classes. They are all taught the same way. Its International Business NOT Microeconomics! Appreciated the comments and stories about your country and other countries. Helped in understanding differences.
