Wireless Network at DSU Wireless Network at North Campus Apts At this time, Dickinson State University has wireless internet available in Stoxen Library main floor and the Student Center main floor. The name of DSU wireless connection is Tsunami.You will need a wireless G or B network card installed on your computer to have access to tsunami. The following instructions illustrate how to connect to the tsunami wireless network at DSU. Note that content on this page may vary slightly depending on different computer models, operating systems, configurations, and service packs. They should be very similar, however. Instructions for connecting to wireless network at DSU: When initially connecting to a wireless network connection, you will have to connect manually (setting up automatic connections will be discussed later). While in an area with a wireless signal, your computer should detect the wireless signal and a message may pop up in the task bar on the lower right indicating one or more wireless connections have been detected. When hovering the mouse pointer over the wireless network connection icon, you may get a screen with the message shown in the extreme lower right of Figure 1. (click on the image to enlarge it). Figure 1.(Click on the Figure to enlarge) You can either double click the wireless network connection icon in the taskbar, or simply go to Start, Connect To, Wireless Network Connection. You will get the Wireless Network Connection window. Note there may be more than one wireless connection listed—some may be rogue routers or even other wireless computers with an access point. Note the strength indicators on each connection. The more green bars you have the stronger your signal is. The tsunami network with all five bars green is the strongest in figure 2 (Click on the Figure to enlarge). You may have difficulty connecting to a network with less than three green bars. Figure 2 (Click on the Figure to enlarge) Now click the desired wireless network (in this case tsunami) and select Connect. You may get the security warning popup indicated in Figure 3. After a few moments, you should be connected as indicated by the “Connected” status shown in Figure 4. (Click on the figure to enlarge.) You can now close the Wireless Network Connection window and proceed to internet activities. Managing automatic connections will be discussed next. Figure 4 (Click on the Figure to enlarge) Click on Start, Connect To, Show all connections. In the Network Connections window, right click on the Wireless Network Connection and select properties. Then, in the wireless Network Connection Properties window, select the Wireless Networks tab. Under the preferred networks section, you can manage which connections you would like your computer to automatically connect to.See Figure 5 below.
